Green Map became a lifestyle database, creating new opportunities to rediscover
the many unique environments within Tokyo. GREEN MAP PROJECT in TOKYO ART JUNGLE was curator David d'Heilly, and produced by 2dk. Yohei Yasuda was project director, Mayako Kusumoto, and Yosuke Iga were the project organizers, and 40+ college student volunteers created the exhibit together with hundreds of Tokyo residents. The students carried out the first stage of fieldwork over a three month period of time, walking, discovering, and recording various spots around the city, gathering, in all some 1075 spots. During the same time, a Green Map making workshop was also held for elementary school students. The data and images collected were all compiled and in the end, an exciting, multi-faced, impressive and huge Yamanote Line Green Map was created. The message from Wendy Brawer, founding director, Green Map System |
