The area outside of Vroom was carpeted with living grass, and the space was constituted so that visitors could lie down and enjoy the images.
Because living bluegrass was used, we watered every other day after avoiding leaking water from the floor. Every day the grass was covered with vinyl for protection from winter dryness.
The breed of grass used was Snow Echo Turf, also known as Kentucky bluegrass.
Plant coordinator Reiko Sato took charge of managing the grass full-time, starting with the "TOKYO ART JUNGLE" held in Summer, 2002. Small pots and small objects made by Reiko (using surplus grass) decorated the cafe space. |
